You Can't Win A Fight With The Judges

When will the contestants learn that pleading, begging and arguing with the judges won't get you a "golden ticket" to Hollywood. It will only make you look stupid. Once you start arguing, the satirical wit of Simon crushes you like a bug. Take as an example Aretha Codner of Bufalo. After butchering, "I Have Nothing" by Whitney Houston, Simon said, "Aretha, can I be honest with you? The funny blue dress, the huge belt, the screaming — it didn’t work, and the singing was terrible.” The following is a transcript of what happened next:

“Oh, I have a beautiful voice,” she replied.

Cowell: “No, you do not have a beautiful voice, Aretha.”

Codner: “It is amazing.”

Cowell: “To who?”

Codner: “To my family, to people that don’t even know me. I stop crowds.”

Cowell: “Because you’re so bad. ... Come on, Aretha, you seriously murdered the Whitney Houston song.”

In actuality, her voice wasn't that bad. The changed key during the song (not on purpose) and she hit some bad notes. All in all it was a bad audition. Paula told her that she admired her confidence ... but Paula always tries to say something nice.

A tip for future idol contestants ... why argue? you are not going to change the judges minds. And though you will get a little more face time on the TV ... looking like an idiot isn't good for any career aspirations you may have ... unless you want to be the next "Jack-Ass".

Renaldo Lapuz ... Comic Relief

Yes friends the auditions have started for season 7 and millions tuned in to see the contestants make total fools of themselves ... and Renaldo Lapuz didn't disappoint. Singing an original song (over and over again), he won over the judges ... too bad that he was over the age limit. Yes, Mr. Lapuz is living proof that Yoko Ono cheated on John Lennon ... with Liberace!

Amongst the swill of bad auditions, a couple of gems did appear and bear watching during the Hollywood call-backs. Among those are Angela Martin from Chicago, Kristy Lee Cook from Selma, Oregon, Beth Stalker from Grand Junction, Michigan and Chris Watson from Dover, Delaware.

We will see what this week's auditions bring.
